AI Chat and Health Insights

The Med-SEAL Patient Portal includes an AI health assistant powered by six specialised agents. You can ask health questions, get medication explanations, discuss your vitals, and receive tailored lifestyle advice – in English, Chinese, Malay, or Tamil.


Starting a Chat

  1. In the Patient Portal app, tap the Chat tab at the bottom.

  2. Type your message in the text box and tap Send.

  3. The AI will respond within a few seconds.


What You Can Ask

The AI assistant is designed for health-related conversations. Examples of things you can ask:

Medications

  • “What is metformin used for?”

  • “Can I take ibuprofen with my blood pressure medication?”

  • “I missed my morning dose – what should I do?”

Vitals and Lab Results

  • “My blood pressure today was 145/90 – is that high?”

  • “My HbA1c went up to 8.2 – what does that mean?”

Lifestyle

  • “What can I eat at a hawker centre that is low in sugar?”

  • “How much exercise should I do with my condition?”

Appointments

  • “What should I prepare for my appointment next Tuesday?”

  • “Can you summarise what happened at my last visit?”

Tap the language selector (globe icon) at the top of the chat screen to switch between:

Health Insights

Beyond chat, the app surfaces proactive AI Insights on the Home screen:

  • Biometric alerts – “Your blood pressure has been above 140 for 3 consecutive days.”

  • Adherence nudges – “You missed 2 doses this week. Would you like a reminder?”

  • Lifestyle tips – “High-sodium meals have been common this week. Here are lower-sodium alternatives.”

These insights are generated by the Nudge Agent (A3) and Lifestyle Agent (A4) based on your logged data.


Pre-Visit Summaries

Before a scheduled appointment, the AI generates a Pre-Visit Summary visible on the Appointments screen. It includes:

  • A plain-language briefing of your health since the last visit

  • Medications to discuss

  • Questions to consider raising with your doctor


Safety and Limitations

The AI assistant provides health information and support only. It does not replace professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always consult your doctor or pharmacist for clinical decisions.

The AI is protected by the SEA-LION Guard safety system, which:

  • Blocks harmful or misleading content

  • Flags responses that require clinician review

  • Escalates urgent health concerns to your care team automatically

If you receive an “Escalated to care team” message, your care team has been alerted and will follow up with you.


Feedback

At the end of each AI response, you can tap the thumbs-up or thumbs-down icon to rate its helpfulness. This feedback improves the AI over time.
